【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedsolelyforthesheartestingofrivetsandcold-headingwireandrod,andisnotgenerallyrecommendedforthedeterminationoftheshearstrengthofotherproducts.Forrivets,thismethodislimitedtorivetshavingashanklengthequaltoorgreaterthan2d.Note28212;Theresultsofsheartestsofspecimensmachinedfromproductsotherthanwire,rod,andrivetsmaybegreatlydependentupontheorientationofthespecimenwithintheoriginaltestmaterial,andthedirectioninwhichtheforceisappliedrelativetothegrainflowinthespecimen.ItisrecommendedthatshearstrengthsofotherproductsbedeterminedbyTestMethodB769forproductsgreaterthan0.250in.(6.4mm)andTestMethodB831forproductslessthan0.250in.(6.4mm).Shearstrengthsdevelopedbythistestmethodhavebeenshowntovaryfromthosedevelopedbyothermethods.IfTestMethodB565isusedforsheartestingofotherproducts,variablessuchasthosedescribedinTestMethodB769shouldbeidentifiedandcontrolled.Theresultsofsheartestsaredependentupontherelativeandabsolutelengthsofspecimenwhichareshearedout,andthosewhicharesupported.Theresultsoftestsmadeinaccordancewiththismethodshouldnotbedirectlycomparedwiththosedeterminedinothertypesoftestsinwhichthemethodsofloadingandsupportingthespecimenaredifferent.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedoublesheartestingofaluminumandaluminumalloyrivetswithround,solidshanksandcold-headingwireandrod.Note18212;Exceptionstothistestmethodmaybenecessaryinindividualspecificationsormethodsfortestsforaparticularmaterial.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
